Letter S

The Gerrit Noordzij Prize is given to type designers and typographers for extraordinary contributions to the fields of type design, typography and type education. The prize is awarded every three years by the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, together with the Museum Meermanno and the Koninklijke Bibliotheek and under the auspices of the Dr. P.A. Tiele Trust. Karel Martens was awarded in 2012 and was consequently invited to showcase his work at the Royal Academy of Art in 2015. Each TypeMedia student was asked to make a one-letter poster, together forming Karel Martens’ name for the opening of the exhibition.
